How would information gathered from the MCMI-III assist in the intake and treatment planning process? 4. What is the MCMI-III? The What is the MCMI-III is a psychological assessment tool that is used to measure psychopathological disorders in the mental health field.

Legal and ethical requirements What are the legal and ethical requirements for a professional to administer, interpret, and/or report the results of an MCMI-III?

Legal and ethical cont’d A practitioner or a user of the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory - Fourth Edition (MCMI-IV) needs to be a licensed mental health professional and educated in the field of psychopathological disorders.

Other cautions The assessment tool should not ideally be used by people that do not have any professional knowledge in the field of psychopathological disorders.

Cautions cont’d… For example, a person that believes that they may have a psychopathological disorder should not self-assess themselves through the use of the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory - Fourth Edition (MCMI-IV).

Intake and treatment How would information gathered from the MCMI-III assist in the intake and treatment planning process?

Intake and treatment cont’d… The assessment tool helps the practitioner to properly diagnose a condition and therefore determine the appropriate and the correct treatment for the psychopathological disorder.

Treatment Strategies Describe potential treatment strategies that would likely be incorporated into a treatment plan based on results from an MCMI-III.

Treatment strategies cont’d… A potential treatment strategy would involve the use of pharmaceutical medication also known as drug therapy, coupled with talk therapy to monitor the patient. The patient would be monitored closely following the aftermath of a psychotic episode and then once they show progress, the monitoring would be weaned down as well as potentially the drug therapeutic intervention.
