It can happen to anyone

It’s not just the homeless who are hungry in our country today. It could be your best friend It could be someone in your class It could be someone who lives in a big house and drives an expensive car It could be YOU. It’s not just the homeless who are hungry in our country today.

What do we do?

Agencies and vouchers At Grantham Foodbank we work with agencies such as Citizens Advice Bureau, Job Centre Plus, and Sure Start to provide food for families in need with enough food for 3 days. We help families in Grantham and the surrounding villages. The agencies give the family a voucher to bring to the food bank to redeem for the food. We cannot give food without a voucher

donations In the first 24 months since we opened we have collected and donated almost 34 tonnes of food to 3400 hungry people including 1100 children

Where do we get the food from? Supermarket collections Churches Schools Businesses Individuals And you..

Foodbank volunteers collecting food from shoppers outside the supermarket

Food is sorted into boxes of the same type of item.

When the boxes inside the supermarket are full they are taken outside under a ‘marquee’ ready to be collected by the van at the end of the day and taken to the warehouse.

All the food gets taken to the Warehouse After the collection…. All the food gets taken to the Warehouse

Stage 1 The food is left in the hallway on shelves waiting to be weighed, sorted and put into storage by the warehouse volunteers.

The food is weighed in and recorded. Stage 2 The food is weighed in and recorded.

What can you do to help? You can have ‘one-off’ collections such as Harvest You can have a box in school to collect all items on a regular basis You can collect specific items that we become short of You can collect extra special things such as Christmas presents or Easter eggs You can fundraise in any way you like. All donations go straight to the Foodbank to buy items we are low on or towards our rent, which is very expensive and helping to keep the building open is just as vital as the food itself.

thank you for your donations They really are appreciated and help so many families in Grantham
