AUTO BLITZING the CORNERS at the YOUTH LEVEL The key to auto blitzing is pretty simple. If playing man then a TE is never considered and Number One receiver and if playing zone then a High Safety takes over the vacating Cornerbacks rules.   When motion occurs, typically the Offense is looking for a numbers advantage but will not except the Defense to in turn out number them instead. There are numerous ways to play it but auto blitzing your Corners by rule is an unexpected move in the eyes of the Offense. Auto blitzing is a useful tool in most all Defensive systems and can be turned on or turned off depending on how you see things during a game. You can also turn one Corner on and the other off and you can do so as the Offense is lining up. Since this is more of a youth football exercise I will discuss the typical youth football Defenses. The upper level Defense can be far more exotic than youth but we have used auto blitzing at the semi pro level and it worked very well. Even the experienced players on Offense that you see at that level will struggle with a Corner blitz. Basically it’s a coverage triangulation between both Corners and a High Safety. It also affects the Defensive Ends and the Outside Linebackers because the rules of playing force and contain will most likely change. In Man coverage you might want roll the coverage as well at times. Zone coverage is more straight up unless you are in a cover 0 look and cant vacate and then cover for a vacating Cornerback. Still the limitations are few but the end results are really very good. Plus teaching auto blitzing is a rather inexpensive teach because it fits most base rules of alignments. Shown are different Base Defenses playing pure Man verses the Base Pro I. It is important to note that auto blitzing formations that never show a Number One receiver, i.e the Robust T or the Double Wing, then you are in a situation to auto blitz both Corners at the same time. This is where you may or may not want to create calls that leave auto blitzing rules on or turn them off. AUTO BLITZING YOUR CORNERS IN THE 3-3
