Presentation transcript:

This work of art is an example of visual imagery, and is less representational than the previous work of art and more abstract, because it depicts a woman in an unconventional, distorted manner. This work is less abstract than the next work of art, because it is more clear what the subject is in the painting, than the next work. Pablo Picasso Weeping Woman 1937 http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/picasso-weeping-woman-t05010 This work of art is an example of visual imagery and is less representational than the previous work of art, because of the way the woman is drawn. The lines are a lot sharper, making her look and feel less realistic. This work is more representation than the next because it is still clearly a woman, even though her eyes are not as human as the first work of art. Amedo Modigliani Reclining Nude 1917 http://metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/486847 This work of art is an example of visual imagery, and is more representational than the work of art that comes after it, because it is the most realistic. The painting was created with a woman in mind, and it portrays the woman in an ordinary way. The painting is of the woman with her natural look, and nothing abstract. John Singer Sargent Mrs. Hugh Hammersley 1892 http://metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/16255

The image is more abstract than the previous work, because it has more of a distorted look to it than the previous work, but is less non-objective than the next work, because there is still a human element to the image. The way lines are used to created a general shape that is reminiscent of a human body is clear. Henry Moore Two Women 1970 http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/moore-two-women-p02133 The image is more abstract than the previous work because it is a portrayal of a woman in a more creative, and unusual way. The work is less non-objective than the next work of art because, though the shape of the woman is less human, it is still identifiable as the shape of a woman. Jean Dubuffet Woman Grinding Coffee 1945 http://metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/486578 The image is more abstract than the previous work of art, because it is more of a distorted image, than the previous work, and is less abstract than the next work of art, because it is still clearly modeled after the human form. Pablo Picasso Bust of a Woman 1944 http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/picasso-bust-of-a-woman-l03007

The image is less abstract than the previous work of art, because it is a more chaotic and confusing image. It is more non-objective because it is unclear what the image is depicting. Willem de Kooning Women Singing II 1966 http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/kooning-women-singing-ii-t01178
