Session 3 Replenishing the Coffers THE ROTARY FOUNDATION – DISTRICT 9650 Session 3 Replenishing the Coffers

The cycle of fundraising and giving Rotary Club raises money Rotary club donates money to another charity Other charity builds reputation Other charity comes back to Rotary Club for more money

Lets grow our reputation Rotary Club raises Money Rotary Club contributes to TRF Rotary club applies for a Grant The Grant provides funding for local or international projects Reputation of the Rotary Club grows …to do good in the world

Our role is to convince all Rotarians to make The Rotary Foundation their charity of choice.

Contribution Trends - Australia

Replenishing the Coffers Why support the Foundation? No donations 2017/18 – no District Designated Funds 2020/21. Bob’s year supports Debbie’s year. Foundation spends $300 million per year on humanitarian projects. Has to recoup to continue. Patrick Chisangra – Funds you donate are the lifeblood of projects in Africa.

Why I Support the Foundation Funds spent on projects initiated by individual Rotarians, like you & I, persuading our own clubs. Rotary Club support at recipient end – global organisation. Local Community Assessment. Sustainability experience. Overheads 8%. 5. Tax deductibility and bang for buck.

Raising the Bar Objective average US$100 per member Last year US$80 per member – 25% increase needed. Produces US$160,000 pa - US$80,000 in DDF 2021/22 And revive support for PolioPlus

Setting Goals If you fail to plan you are planning to fail – B Franklin. Each Club is begged to set Foundation Goals. Now easy on RI Website – compare 2015/16. Home Page/Menu (on left)/For members/Rotary Club Central/Goal Center(on left)/Rotary Foundation Giving. Periodically review performance against goals.

Charities in Australia and New Zealand have a combined total income of nearly $125b annually

Our Charity Rotary International only has one official charity.. Do you give personally to one of these? Why not give to our own charity?

Most Australians give to a Charity. On average they give to at least three charities per year. The average Australian gave $318* to Charity last year. *Source NAB Only 23% of Rotarians gave to our Charity – The Rotary Foundation Giving is tax deductible through: The Australian Rotary Foundation Trust, or Guardian Trust in New Zealand
