“The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to Enable Rotarians to Advance, World Understanding, Good Will and Peace through the Improvement of Health, the Support of Education and the Alleviation of Poverty.” We accomplish this by fostering effective and sustainable projects around the world. We are looking to the future and incorporating projects within the 6 areas of focus bringing us closer to our mission while supporting the amazing work of Rotarians. Through OUR Foundation, we reach out to both our local and international communities enriching the lives of millions.

4 Our Areas of Focus Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution
Disease Prevention and Treatment Water and Sanitation Maternal and Child Health Basic Education and Literacy Economic and Community Development Whether it’s eradicating polio in India, digging water wells in the Philippines, providing dictionaries to a local elementary school, or educating a scholar in peace and conflict resolution, Rotary creates the environment and circumstances to promote peace throughout the world. So I ask you, what makes Rotary special? [Encourage Audience Participation] Thank you for your comments. I encourage you to share your stories with your fellow Rotarians, and with The Rotary Foundation – so we may share them with the world.

5 Polio Eradication Polio Facts:
-Since the PolioPlus program began in 1985, more than two billion children have received oral polio vaccine. -210 countries territories and areas around the world are now polio-free thanks to Rotarians who have mobilized by the hundreds of thousands to ensure the success of national immunization days as well as strong surveillance programs around the world. -As of 30 June 2011, $1.1 billion has been funded towards eradicating Polio. Total PolioPlus Contributions (includes Gates Foundation): $78.9 million (Cumulative $831.5 million) - 123 nations have benefited from PolioPlus grants. -In 2011, 400 million children received the polio vaccine. -Four countries rest endemic for wild polio virus in 2011: Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and Pakistan For updated statistics on Polio cases please visit:
