Voter Registration in Massachusetts July 2018

Who can register to vote in MA? You are a U.S. citizen, and 16 years old*, and Not currently incarcerated by reason of felony conviction If you meet the above requirements, you may apply online, by mail, or in-person. *16- and 17-year-olds may pre-register, but may not vote until they turn 18.

Why register to vote? You should register to vote (or update your registration) if: You are a newly eligible voter in MA: New U.S. citizen Just turned 16, 17, or 18 years old Moved here from out of state Never registered in MA You changed your address You wish to change your party enrollment

What is the deadline to register? The deadline to register to vote in any election or regular town meeting is twenty (20) days prior to the date of the election or meeting. The deadline to register to vote in a special town meeting is ten (10) days prior to the special town meeting.

Three ways to register to vote By mail Driver’s license or state ID number or Last 4 digits of SSN Online Must have a valid MA driver’s license or state ID card Signature on file at the RMV In person Local election official’s office (Town or City Clerk) Elections Division of the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s office RMV offices and certain public assistance agencies
