War Memorials By Stephanie and Megan

Purpose of a War Memorial A war memorial is a building, monument or statue to remember a war or victory, or to commemorate those who died or were injured in war.

Local War Memorials This memorial commemorates the residents of South Uist who were killed or missing in World War I and World War II. Many of these memorials were destroyed after the First World War. After the Second World War, the names of those who died in that war were also added to the memorial.

Why it’s important to Remember It’s important to remember the people who fought in the war for our country and who are still fighting.
