What Kind of Rainforest Animal are YOU?

How many animals are there? Rainforests have more animals than any other ecosystem! There are 125 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, 100 species of reptiles, 60 species of amphibians, and 150 species of butterflies!

Can you name any birds that you think live in the rainforest?? The birds in the rainforest usually only live their in the winter, they live in cooler areas in the summer! Many of the birds that live in the rainforest are kept as pets because of their looks. The birds live in areas called canopies, which are the upper leaves in a tree, or emergents which are located on the tops of the tallest trees. The larger birds in the rainforest even talk to each other by making sounds! Can you name any birds that you think live in the rainforest??

Do you know any types of reptiles that would live in the rainforest? Most of the reptiles that live in the rainforest lay eggs. The are cold blooded which means their body temperature depends on the environment. They are very active during the day. Do you know any types of reptiles that would live in the rainforest?

Insects About 30,000,000 different types of insects in all the rainforests in the world. There are 2 different categories of insects in the rainforest. 1)Rainforest floor- get rid of waste on the ground… ants, termites, earthworm 2) Live in trees/air… moths, flying ants, butterflies

Cheetah, giraffe, blue whale, and sloth! Mammals Almost all of these animals have fur. There are over 5,000 different kinds of mammals. These animals talk to each other. Can you guess what the fastest, tallest, loudest, and slowest animals are? Cheetah, giraffe, blue whale, and sloth!

Amphibians There are more than 4,000 species of amphibians. The most common rainforest amphibians are frogs. They complete the first part of the life cycle in water then move to land as adults!

Now it’s your turn! Pick out an animal that you would want to be. Describe why you chose the animal you chose. Research your animal and come up with 10 facts that you find interesting!
