Afghan Air Force History: Began in 1924 By 1960 the AAF consisted of 100 combat aircraft The AAF was strongest in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, producing some concern in neighboring countries Future training will take place at Shindand Air Base in Western Afghanistan In the 1960’s and the 1990’s the Afghan Military in general received weapons from the Soviet Union
