Parts of a Guppy Differences in Male and Female Guppies Anal fin shape in males is rod shaped, in females it is fan shaped. Females has smaller dorsal fins. Females have a gravid spot that holds eggs. Caudal fin or tail is smaller and less fancy in females than in males. Males have a larger dorsal fin than females.
