A person’s opinions are influenced by his Religion & culture …. Caste Family background & education Various other factors.

OPINION IS …. A view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. ( Oxford online dictionary)

What is Media? The main means of mass communication (broadcasting, publishing, and the Internet) regarded collectively.

News Media Mass media that focus on delivering news

What is journalism? Journalism is the activity of gathering, assessing, creating, and presenting news and (new) information.

Journalism is…. …to provide people with verified information they can use to make better decisions.

Systematic process – a discipline of verification – that journalists use to find not just the facts, but also the “truth about the facts.”

OBJECTIVITY Objectivity means that when covering hard news, reporters don’t convey their own feelings, biases or prejudices in their stories.

Public Opinion is formed by : Information Information which builds the consensus ? Information comes with the perspective and information is dumped without any knowledge about its use.

Public opinion is formed by Consensus The mass media assist in correlating response to the challenges and opportunities and reach consensus on social actions. The consensus thwarts the possibility to subversion and media as tool is used to communicate the importance of dominant structure.

Public opinion is formed by Entertainment The diffusion through signs, symbols, sounds and images for personal and collective recreation and enjoyment is one of the functions of mass media

Public opinion is formed by Infotainment It not only the information, but information mixed with entertainment has become a prominent feature of today’s media. The trivialisation of the content dilutes the seriousness and authenticity of the information.
