Learning Objectives Describe how non-event engagement can be used to engage alumni who do not attend events but want a continued relationship with their alma mater. Explain how non-event engagement can be a tool when limited in staff time and financial resources. Identify specific examples of using non-event engagement in Alumni Relations. Describe how non-event engagement can be used in outreach to specific alumni affinity groups.

Events Have Their Place 2006 38 events 3,300 total attendees 935 individual alumni attended events 2014 114 events (200% growth) 11,007 total attendees (234% growth) 3,002 individual alumni attended (221% growth)

Event Growth Went from offering mostly social events to offering events in these categories each year: Social Family Networking Service Educational Corporate Spiritual Expanding the number and types of events helped us grow the number of engaged alumni dramatically 2014 level off Third, Third, Third Theory

The New Normal Busy, swamped, & overloaded? Full Social Calendars 3 C’s: Children, Commute, & Career Social Media Keeps Us Connected Used to need the Alumni Association for social calendar, to connect with classmates and to get campus news.
