Topics for Discussion Deed Restrictions By Laws 501 c3 A deed restriction is a type of private agreement restricting the use of real estate. Such restrictions are usually listed within the written deed document relating to the property, and should be noted if the property is to be sold or transferred. By Laws Bylaws typically provide procedures for electing boards of directors and officers, the structure of meetings including how meetings are run, agendas set and what is a quorum, delegation of officer duties, sub- committees and how the bylaws are amended. 501 c3 A 501(c) (3) falls under the most common tax-exempt entity in the US. Essentially if a non-profit meets certain criteria then it is exempt from federal income taxes. Some states also offer tax exemption under this type of organization. There are 29 types of non-profits that can fall under this category.

James Guthrie James resides in Pasadena with his wife Pam and their daughter, Moriah, where they attend Zion Lutheran Church. He lives in the Preston Trails Neighborhood and works professionally for Thrivent Financial, a Christian-based financial services company.

James Guthrie James is a former Pasadena City Council member having served From 2003 - 2007. He is an active member of more than 15 Nonprofit Community organizations, which include: Pasadena Chamber of Commerce; Pasadena Rotary Club; Founding Board Member Pasadena Habitat for Humanity; The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, San Jacinto College Foundation, Pasadena Independent School District Education Foundation, Armand Bayou Nature Center and Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership.   He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce for 2018 James also serves as the President of the Pasadena Philharmonic Society Board of Trustees helping to keep music alive in Pasadena. He has been a licensed real estate broker since 1969, serves on the board of his homeowner’s association, Preston Trails HOA, and serves on the board of Pasadena Habitat for Humanity’s Freedom Place Subdivision Homeowner’s Association.

John Schneider John Schneider is a longtime resident of the City of Pasadena, presently residing with his family in the Village Grove Subdivision. He has been a licensed attorney since 1982. He is also a member of the Optimist Club John was the First Assistant City Attorney for our great City and has been working for the City for approximately 30 years. His specific duties include, but are not limited to, attending court proceeding for City lawsuits, immanent domain condemnations, involved in writing City ordinances, legal reviews of City contracts Civil Service Commission hearings, Annexations, assess and review legal questions from Code Enforcement and reviewing complaints involving Deed Restrictions

CPR/ Medic First Aid/ AED/ FA Training The Neighborhood Network is hosting a CPR/Medic First Aid/ AED/ FA Training for our Pasadena Neighborhood Organization members. If there is enough interest for class 1, we will host additional classes. The training is scheduled for Saturday, February 3rd at one of our local Pasadena churches. Participant’s administrative fee for the class is $22.11. (Cash or money order). The training is being provided ‘at cost’ and expenses go towards the student handbook, wallet guide card and the certification—all are required to take the class. Space is limited and we have room for 12 members to sign up. Participants will be placed on the list on a first come, first serve bases. If you are interested in the CPR/Fist Aid Class, please complete the attached application and send it via email (niherrera@ci.pasadena.tx.us) or bring it to the office in person. Your name will be placed on the list once the application is received.
