State Law Utah Code 10-9a-401 requires each municipality” to “prepare and adopt a comprehensive, long-range general plan”

Current Plan A General Plan is designed to serve for about 20 years Our current Marriott-Slaterville General Plan was adopted in 1999 The map of the General Plan was updated in 2000, 2003, 2008, and 2014 In 2006, the state law relating to the General Plan was entirely rewritten Marriott-Slaterville City needs to update its General Plan

Plan Required Content Present and future needs of the City Growth and development of all or part of the land within the City

Optional Content Health, general welfare, safety, energy conservation, transportation, prosperity, civic activities, asthetics, recreation, education, culture Sprawl and waste reduction from congestion and scattering of the population Conservation, food, water, drainage, sanitation, public facilities

Optional Content Energy conservation and renewable resources Protection of urban development Air quality Historic preservation Future uses of land and expansion Maps

10-9a-403 Required Elements Land Use Element: housing, business, industry, agriculture, recreation, education, public buildings, open space. May include population and building density, and categories of land use Transportation Element: location of existing and proposes freeways, arterials, collector streets, mass transit, and other modes of transportation.

Required Elements 10-9a-408 Moderate Income Housing Plan

Optional Elements Environmental Element Public Services and Facilities Element Rehabilitation, Redevelopment, and Conservation Element Economic Element Implementation Elements and Ordinances Any other Element City desires

Procedure 10-9a-403 (1)(a) Planning Commission to provide notice in 10-9a-203 of intent to make a recommendation to the City Council relating to the General Plan Schedule a public hearing Provide notice under 10-9a-204 After public hearing, Planning Commission to take action and forward to the City Council City Council to take final action on recommendation from Planning Commission

Quality Assurance The City has retained the services of Rural Community Consultants to assist in the update of the General Plan The Consultant has experience in developing the General Plan for small communities such as Marriott-Slaterville The Consultant will present a draft the public hearing later this year The new plan will be available electronically
