2012-2013 U.S. Electric Vehicle Market…

Electric Vehicles … EV Incentives EVs Create Fewer CO2 Emissions Gas Electric $4.00 per gal. 30 mpg 13.3¢ per mile 10¢ per KW 3.3 miles per KWH 3.3¢ per mile Federal Incentives $7,500 tax credit, for EVs & PHEVs Georgia Incentives $5,000 income tax credit for Battery EV. PHEVs not included. May be eligible for AFV Tag Gas Average Electric $ 4.00 30 miles per day $ 0.99 $ 133.33 1,000 miles per month $ 33.00 EVs Create Fewer CO2 Emissions EVs are Selling The Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt, had total sales of 17,345 in 2011, the first year in which they were available. Compared with sales of 9,350 for hybrids in 2000, the first year the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius were offered in the U.S.--where total hybrid sales have now topped 2 million.

EV Re-Fueling … * 1 Hour of Charging = ~12-15 Miles of Electric Power The general purpose of EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) is as a smart and safe connection between the power grid and the electric vehicle * 1 Hour of Charging = ~12-15 Miles of Electric Power

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment… Georgia Incentives A non-retail business may claim an income tax credit for the purchase of qualified EVSE provided the EVSE is accessible to the public. The amount of the credit is 10% of the cost of the charger, up to $2,500. (Georgia Code 48-7-40.16) Georgia Power offers a Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) time-of-use electricity rate for residential customers who own an electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. The PEV rate is optional and does not require a separate meter. Overnight Locations Work Spaces Other Residence Hotel Airport Parking Office Park ‘n Ride Public Parking Lots Shopping Dining Entertainment Venues Plug Safety Standard SAE J1772 is the U.S.  standard for  electrical connectors for EVs. Level 1 120v 12-16A Level 2 240v 30-80A

EV Charging for a Multi-Family Complex… Must be considered an amenity ~$900-$1,100 per charger + installation by certified electrical contractor Must be well marked to highlight the amenity Plan on expansion – the most expensive part of most EVSE is not the equipment, it’s the provisioning. Target 5% EV parking spaces within 5 years. EV Charging (EVSE) Should be billed monthly as premium reserved parking slots $50 or $60 per month in addition to any other parking fees Consider a single sub-meter (~$750) for the entire installation to monitor usage growth and adjust monthly rates as necessary EV Power Usage Get Quotes from an experienced EVSE electrical contractors Clean Cities Atlanta is available to answer questions throughout your implementation Plan & Install EVSE
