EVER WONDER How TO reveal something about yourself as a person in your personal narrative?

In this lesson you will learn how to reveal something about yourself as a person by showing the reader how you have changed.

So let’s review what we already know So let’s review what we already know. The writing process has 5 stages and starts with brainstorming, which is thinking of ideas to write about. From there writers draft their pieces, revise them to make them better, edit to be sure all spelling, grammar and punctuation are correct and finally publish so others can read their work.   (during this time each part of the writing process should appear separately so they can be explained)

WE READ TO LEARN ABOUT SOMETHING—A PLACE WE HAVE NEVER BEEN, A PROBLEM WE HAVE NEVER PERSONALLY ENCOUNTERED, A PERSON WE DO NOT KNOW. THROUGH READING PEOPLE EXPAND THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE HUMAN—HOW WE STRUGGLE, FAIL, SUCCEED, LEARN, ETC. A PERSONAL NARRATIVE IS A GENRE IN WHICH THE WRITER TALKS ABOUT HIS OWN LIFE IN A WAY THAT TELLS THE READER SOMETHING ABOUT HIM AS AN INDIVIDUAL, BUT ALSO IN A WAY THAT EXTENDS TO OTHERS AND HOW THEY RELATE TO THE WORLD.

Ok so here are the steps that should be taken to brainstorm ideas for a good personal narrative This brainstorm will be based on an important person in your life First you will think of an important person in your life Under that person's name you will list at least three strong memories that you have with that person Then you will choose one of those memories, play it in your mind like a movie and write it out as it happen

It was my first day with my new mini bike that my godfather gave me It was my first day with my new mini bike that my godfather gave me. My cousin and I laughed with excitement and smiled as we darted through the streets of my neighborhood pretending we were motorcycle superstars! I approached it quietly like a person when they first see a mean dog, but as I rode more I became more confident. I was being cocky and forgot that I had put the bike in gear when I let go of the clutch to rest. Suddenly everything went into slow motion, the mini bike roared like an angry lion and my hands froze to the handle bars as I held on for dear life. I didn’t see anything until the last minute, then WHAM! I rode the bike into the side of Mr. Robinson’s new car. I looked at his car and felt bad for what I did. As I scraped myself off of the ground I knew I was in for it. I told my mother what had happened and she made me put the bike away. I was not allowed to ride it for a month. I reread my draft and pay attention to places where I will “show how this experience changed me or the way that I act, and the place does not have to come at the end of the story. You know what, I forgot something that would tell the reader about me.

I reread my draft and pay attention to places where I will “show how this experience changed me or the way that I act, and the place does not have to come at the end of the story. You know what, I forgot something that would tell the reader about me.

So when I get done reading my draft I think to myself what do I want the reader to know about how I grew from this experience….. I WAS CHANGED BECAUSE I EXPECTED MR. ROBINSON TO BE SO MAD AT ME, BUT HE WAS PROUD OF ME INSTEAD. I LEARNED THAT DOING THE RIGHT THING WHEN IT IS HARD MIGHT EARN YOU A PUNISHMENT IN THE SHORT RUN, BUT IN THE LONG RUN YOU GAIN RESPECT.

I did feel bad for what happened, and I thought he was going to be angry with me. From that day on I walked a little taller, and smiled on the inside because Mr. Robinson called me a man. Once I realize what change happened I question and ask how can I show the reader the change in me, or how can I show the reader that I was proud? So now I didn’t know what to say, I felt bad for what I had done, but I also felt proud that Mr. Robinson called me a man. Becomes I did feel bad for what happened, but from that day on I walked a little taller, and smiled on the inside, because Mr. Robinson called me a man. Can you see the way I changed in that description of how I walked away from this experience
