Warm Up and Spiral October 24 Directions: Use textbook pages 54 C and 55 C to answer the following question. What is the difference between a well and a spring? Create a t-chart and compare and contrast point source pollution and non point source pollution. PROVIDE AT LEAST 2 EXAMPLES OF EACH… What is the difference between relative age and absolute age? Can you provide one example of each? Objectives: 8.E.1.1/1.2/ and 1.3 -TSWU structures of the hydrosphere including estuaries and different species found within. Essential Question: -What is an estuary? -What is the difference between aquatic organisms and terrestrial organisms.

Warm Up October 10 What is the difference between a river basin and a watershed? What is the difference between point source pollution and nonpoint source pollution? ---------Can you give an example for each?-----------

Warm up October 11 What is an estuary? How does the change in tides affect organisms in an estuary? Objectives: 8.E.1.1 and 8.E.1.2 -TSW understand the hydrosphere including estuaries and the different species living within. -TSW understand the difference between aquatic and terrestrial organisms and how their food webs are interconnected. Essential Questions: -What is an estuary? -What is the difference between a food chain and a food web?

Warm Up October 12 What is the difference between an aquatic organism and a terrestrial organism? Objectives: 8.E.1.2 -TSW understand that terrestrial and aquatic food webs are often interconnected. Essential Questions: -What is the difference between a food chain and a food web?

Fresh water rivers run into salty coastal waters Fresh water rivers run into salty coastal waters. Two big groups of life breed & feed in the tall grasses of our estuaries.

When salt & fresh water mix, it is called brackish.

Estuaries: 2 X the breeding & feeding!

Summary Located along the shoreline where fresh water from a river meets salt water from the ocean. Estuaries have twice the amount of life. Estuaries are great places for organisms to lay eggs, have babies, and raise there young. Estuaries absorb lots of water. Estuaries absorb lots of pollution coming from a river. There are two types of estuaries: salt marshes and mangrove forests.
