TSX Touchscreen Preparation

Be sure to locate and connect… Headphones Keypad Power cord

Locate the TSX Key… Unlock the power switch compartment Turn on by pressing the RED button Re-lock the power switch compartment

Unlock and open the printer cover… The same key that was used to unlock the power switch compartment is used to unlock the printer cover.

Machine will automatically do a test print when turned on. Press “ok” when display says “printer test passed.” Press “ok” again. “Zero tape” will print. Only need 1 copy. Compare tape to specimen ballot. Press “Start Take-Up” button, then “ok.” If you are confused on something or need further instruction, either locate the instructions you were provided with by your EA or contact the EA’s office for help.

All judges must sign the end of the zero tape!

Close and lock the printer cover… The screen should display the election name, date and precinct. The lower right hand corner of the screen should state that “0” ballots have been cast.

The TSX is Ready for use!

Insert the “Supervisor Card” Some jurisdictions call it an “Access Card.”

Enter the “PIN” number and press “OK”

Remove the “Supervisor Card”

Select “End Voting” & Press “Yes”

Several Questions to Answer… Print write-in candidate reports? – Yes. Asks which reports you would like to print – Follow your Election Authority’s instructions! Print number of copies requested. If there are no write-in candidates, this question will not be asked by the machine. Several screens will ask if you want different reports, your Election Authority will provide you will a list of reports they would like. Follow their instructions! Print the number of copies your Election Authority has requested. If a pollwatcher requests a copy you can print copies for them as well. When finished printing copies, press “No.”

All judges must sign the end of the zero tape!

When you see this screen press “Shutdown”

Follow your Election Authority’s instructions! Update according to what the jurisdiction does. -Remove memory card and return only the memory card to the counting center. -Leave memory card in tabulator and return the entire tabulator to the counting center. -Remove memory card, put in separate container, and return memory card AND tabulator to the counting center. Some jurisdictions request that the TSX touchscreen machine be folded up and returned on election night, while some jurisdictions have the election judges leave it in the polling place. Remove memory card and return to counting center Remove entire tablet and return to counting center

The canister is the “Ballot Box” for the touchscreen machine. This canister should be sealed before leaving the polling place. This canister must be returned to the counting center at the end of the night!
