Logo and Identity Guidelines and Examples

POLICY 1 Any items including but not limited to apparel, in which the intent of the item is to represent a specific GVSU Club Sports organization, must clearly identify the name of the organization with the word CLUB on the item. (This policy excludes uniforms or jerseys that are worn during games or event competitions.) The GVSU athletic logo may be used alone on items but if a sport identifier is associated with the logo in any way, it must be labeled properly.

POLICY 2 GVSU Club Sports must use the Plumbers Gothic (Bold & Italic) font or the College font to represent the organization name on any printed items. This includes but is not limited to posters, flyers, apparel, and uniforms. Numbers on jerseys and uniforms should also be printed in the Plumbers Gothic (Bold & Italic), or College font. POLICY 3 Any Club Sports organizations using the GVSU logo must abide by policies outlined in the Club Sports Logo Usage Guide. (See Next Slide). Club Sports Logo Usage Guide

Tells you the regulations regarding the use of the logo and the logos you can and cannot use.

POLICY 4 All Club Sports organizations must sign and submit the Permissive Logo License Agreement each year to the GVSU Club Sports Coordinator prior to any printing. This document includes the agreement to follow policies outlined in this Club Sports Identity Handbook, the Club Sports Logo Usage Guide, and the agreement to use only vendors licensed through the Licensed Resource Group (LRG), when using the GVSU athletic logo or Grand Valley State University® name in any way.Permissive Logo License Agreement

POLICY 5 When using a graphic or logo, GVSU Club Sports must use the GVSU athletic logo as their primary logo. Other graphics may be used in addition with the prior approval by the GVSU Club Sports Coordinator.

POLICY 6 All artwork including but not limited to flyers, banners, & apparel must be submitted by to for approval by the Club Sports Coordinator. The following information must be 1. Name of club submitting for approval. 2. An attached PDF file, photo or link of the requested artwork. 3. In what capacity will this artwork be used? If it is on apparel, what will apparel be used for (uniforms in games, travel gear for road trips, basic tshirts, etc)? 4. Will the apparel be worn by the team only or will it be sold? 5. Name of business or vendor producing artwork &/or printed apparel.

GUIDELINE 1 The Club Sports organization name, including the word CLUB, must be clearly visible in regard to size and location on printed items.

GUIDELINE 2 Text, other than the club sports organization name, is permitted and can be printed in any font.

GUIDELINE 3 The use of the word LAKERS is permitted for printing as long as there is a clear connection with the university. Lakers must be used in conjunction with GVSU®, Grand Valley State®, Grand Valley State University® or one of the approved GV logos.

GUIDELINE 4 Text, pictures, logos, or artwork that represent or closely resemble Louie the Laker are not permitted for club sports or any other organization outside of the GVSU Athletic Department.

GUIDELINE 5 The use of nicknames for individual club sports organizations, are permitted, but do not suffice for clear identification of the organization name (policy 1).

Any violators of the aforementioned policies within this Club Sports Identity Handbook, The Club Sports Logo Usage Guide, or the Permissive License Agreement, will be subject to review by Institutional Marketing, the Student Organization Review Board, and the Club Sports Executive Council. This includes potential for revocation of recognized registered student organization status as well as immediate confiscation of non- conforming merchandise with replacement costs charged to offending registered student organization. The Office of Student Life reserves the right to make changes to this Identity Handbook and its policies at any time. Any material changes will take effect immediately.
