Attendance Matters Hoyt Middle School

Showing up to school everyday is a habit that you are developing. This will help you to do well in class, and it will help you to get and keep a job later on.

School only gets harder if you skip a class. Sometimes students are tempted to skip or to stay home, but this only makes your classes harder.

If you think that missing a day or two won’t matter, think again. By missing just ONE day every TWO weeks, you will be on track to miss two full weeks in a semester, or nearly a month of school for the year!

Did you know… A student who misses 10 or more days during the school year is less likely to graduate from high school or ever enroll in college. In fact, poor attendance is the number 1 indicator of dropping out of high school

Chronic absence can affect your ability to earn a living! High school dropouts are less likely to succeed in a career. In fact, a high school graduate makes on average, $1 million more than a dropout over a lifetime!!

If you’re having trouble getting to school…. Maybe you have challenges, like transportation, bullies, or health problems? If so, please tell someone! Tell a teacher, the school counselor, the nurse, or your family. Hoyt Middle School has ways to help kids if they need it!
