Presentation transcript:

Ms. Passer’s News from Room 106 Week of: October 3rd, 2016 Happy October!! Where did September go?! Homecoming is this week (dress up days are posted below) – Go Eagles! I recently posted instructions on the website on how to get onto Think Central to read our weekly main selections. It would be a wonderful idea to read the selection one more time before each test. We usually get to it the first time as a whole group on Tuesday’s and in small groups during WIN time on Wednesday’s. We finished Topic 2 today (9-30). The review will be on Monday and the test will be on Tuesday. It is important to review the packet on Monday night at home so your third grader is prepared for the test! We will begin Topic 3 on Wednesday which is all about applying the properties for multiplication facts of 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8. In lesson 4 of unit 1, we will practice comparing and contrasting along with inferring/predicting. The story selection of the week is, “Pop’s Bridge.” In grammar, we will focus on common and proper nouns. Our vocabulary strategy will be base words and endings in -s, -es, -ed, and -ing. Vocabulary Words: balancing, tide, crew, disappears, foggy, stretch, excitement, cling We’ve really enjoyed digging deeper into learning about communities. We know all about the community of El Paso, Texas. It will be interesting to learn all about Astoria, Oregon this week. We’ve also really enjoyed learning about the Solar System in science! Spelling words (long o -oa, -ow): load, open, told, yellow, soak, shadow, foam, follow, glow, sold, window, coach, almost, throat, cold, most *challenge: tomorrow, sailboats Homecoming week: Monday: Wear a blue shirt for anti-bullying Wednesday: Class color – wear red! Thursday: Jersey/Sport shirt day Friday: School spirit - deck out in blue & green! *Book orders are due Friday, October 7th
