Essential Questions As we read each piece of fiction, we should always keep in mind the following questions: How are our actions influenced by possible consequences? Why do people lie to others and themselves? How do morals inform our decisions? How do decisions reveal our true character? Why do people judge others?

Before we read… It’s always important to have historical context on the authors that we read. The following biography is on the life of Edgar Allan Poe.
