THE GOD OF HOPE

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Definition of hope: “the anticipation, expectation of good from God in every circumstance or situation in life.”

God is a God of Hope “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Romans 5: 1 - 5

God wants to heal and expand our view of Him in all of life, in all circumstances. Hope in God is believing that: God is enough for every circumstance His promises are true – 2 Corinthians 1:20

The God of Hope fills us with joy and peace Joy – relates to the delight of anticipation in seeing one’s hope fulfilled. It is an internal reality. Peace – results from the assurance that God will fulfill those hopes.

The God of Hope asks you and I to trust Him Trust (believe) –The act of habitually trusting and believing, to put one’s faith in; an implication that action based on trust will follow; rest one’s weight upon. “…because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people – the faith and love that spring from the hope…” Colossians 1: 4,5

The God of Hope wants us to overflow (abound) with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit To abound, to overflow – to exceed a fixed number, or measure; to be over; to exist in abundance; more than is necessary.
