11 1. Hope: a key to productivity We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 12 2. Keeping your head in hardship But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 1 Thessalonians 5:8

13 3. Suffering sifts hope … we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God … suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit … Romans 5:1-5

14 4. Hope is an anchor (Heb 6) v1 “… the foundation … of faith in God…” v10 “God … will not forget your work and the love you have shown him …” vv 18,19 “… we who take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
