El condicional The conditional tense is used whenever we use the What does it mean? The conditional tense is used whenever we use the word ‘would’ before another verb, in English. Examples: If I were rich, I would go and live in Australia. My teacher would give me a detention if I didn’t hand my homework in. I’d* like to have a cold drink of fizzy water. NOTE: ‘d is an abbreviation for ‘would’ and is still the conditional.
