December 2017 YARDLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL Autumn 2 NEWSLETTER Please make sure all payments into the office are clearly marked with your child’s name, class and what the payment is for. Paperless Consultation We will be sending out information in the New Year regarding becoming paperless. Watch this space as your input is essential!  December 2017 YARDLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL Autumn 2 NEWSLETTER Please ensure that the school office is kept informed of any changes to your contact details. It is imperative that these are kept up to date in case of an emergency. Once again it has been a very busy term with a number of Christmas events taking place throughout school. As always, these have been very well attended and I would like to thank you for your continued support and your children for their superb performances. I would also like to thank you for your donations and attendance at the Christmas Fayre. This event takes a huge amount of planning and would not be successful without your support. I am please to say we raised a grand total of £3452 despite the weather! Ms Gaynor Moore @yardleyprimary Dates: All the dates for events throughout the coming year at Yardley are on the school website. We hope that we do not have to make many changes to these dates but please continue to check the website just in case. Should you require a paper copy of the events for the year, one can be obtained from the main office. Please ensure you check the website regularly as letters do not go out for every event in school and there are occasional changes. Social media: We are aware that a number of our pupils use social media platforms even though the permitted age to use the sites start from age 13. We recommend that all parents visit the school website and attend any digital safety workshops that we hold to ensure they are aware of how to keep their child safe online. This is a growing area of concern and whilst we monitor children’s internet activity in school it is parents’ responsibility to monitor their activity at home. This half term has included: Pupils participating in the ‘Make a Difference Challenge’. A child led social action project culminating in the ‘Big Vote’. There has been a range of educational visits and educational visitors in school including Professor McGinty and the Hobgoblin theatre company. Celebrations about diversity. Christmas performances. Christmas Fayre. Christmas Jumper Day. Musical Performance. To mention but a few… Have a great holiday – See you all on Monday 8th January!  School Dinners Please ensure that if your child changes from packed lunches to school dinners you inform the office and complete the appropriate paperwork, giving a full week’s notice. The cost of school meals is £11.50 per week and it is imperative that dinner accounts are kept in credit at all times. Massive thanks to the staff in the school kitchen for providing incredible Christmas dinners for pupils and staff and thank you to all school staff who managed the Christmas dinner day. Thank you to parents for all their positive comments and compliments about the site and the way it was cleared and managed during the snow and ice. We did pass your thanks on to the site staff.  We say goodbye to Mr Convery after many years at Yardley Primary School. Thank you to him for his many years of service. The staff, pupils and school community all wish you well with your new role in special education. Children In Need - Thank you for your support for Children In Need. As always, we raised a large amount of money from the sale of headbands, wristbands and pin badges for the charity. Well done! Thank you for making the Christmas Fayre so successful again – your attendance and donations were very much appreciated. Please note that when collecting children during the school day, pupils will not be collected from class until parents actually arrive at school. This is to ensure that they are not waiting in the school office and missing valuable lesson time. Also please provide letters for the office of Hospital/Doctor’s/Opticians appointments where possible. Pupils will return to Yardley Primary School on Monday 8th January 2018
