To help identify a summary think: Summary A summary is a shortened version of the story. It retells all the important parts of the story. Example: Chapter 5 __Winnie explores the woods and finds the tree and Jesse. ____ Winnie is thirsty and asks for some of the water Jesse is drinking from the spring, but he won’t let her drink. __Mae and Miles arrive and see that Winnie wants to drink from the Spring and they decide to kidnap her to keep the Spring a secret.
