Panel Sizes  Premier SIPs panels can be manufactured in sizes from  2’x8’  Up to 8’x24’ 15

Panel Thicknesses / R-Value  There are five nominal panel thicknesses  The core dimensions match dimensional 2x’s: 3 ½”, 5 ½” 7 ¼”, 9 ¼”, 11 ¼” 16

Panel Thicknesses / R-Value  The 3 ½” and 5 ½” panels are typically used for walls  The 7 ¼”, 9 ¼” & 11 ¼” panels are typically used for floors and roofs 17

Splines - Panel Connectors Premier SIPs has three basic types of splines or panel connectors  Listed in order of cost effectiveness they are: 1.The block or surface spline (Type S panel) 2.The I-Joist spline (Type I Panel) 3.The lumber spline (Type L Panel) 18

Splines - Panel Connectors The block or surface spline (Type S Panel)  Either a 3” wide piece of OSB or  A 3” wide mini panel  This spline type does not increase the panels span capability  Used with all width panels 19

Splines - Panel Connectors The I-Joist spline (Type I Panel)  Less thermal bridging than with solid lumber splines  Adds strength to the panels  Maximum spacing of 4’ oc  This spline limits the maximum width of panel to 4’ 20

Splines - Panel Connectors The lumber spline (Type L Panel)  Double 2x’s or solid 3” min. width lumber  LVL may be used  Maximum spacing is 4’ oc  Adds strength to the panels both axially and transverse 21

Wall Panels  Most walls are 5 ½” core panels because of minimum R-19 insulation requirements  Wall panel heights and widths are customized for each project  Both skins of the wall panel must be in bearing at the bottom of the panel 22

Wall Panel Details  The top and bottom of the wall panel will have 2x plating  The top of the wall may have a cap plate for additional bearing capacity  Wall panels will have 2x plating at the corners or changes in direction along with long screw fasteners 23

Wall Panel Details  Wall panels will have 1.5” diameter electrical chases Horizontally Vertically  Top and bottom plates are drilled during installation to access the vertical electrical chases 24

Roof Panels  Most roofs are 9 ¼ ” core panels because of minimum R-38 insulation requirements  No Attic - Vaulted ceilings are common  Minimum 1 ½ ” req’d for bearing of bottom skin 25

Air Tightness  Premier SIPs create a very tight envelope. Mastic at joints 0.05 ACH for SIPs 1 ACH for tight stick ACH = air changes per hour  Require mechanical air exchange system  Be careful with fire places and kitchen fans Depressurize the building 27

Thermal Barriers The major model codes require thermal plastics to be covered with an approved thermal barrier: ½” Gypsum Or an approved material  This requirement applies to Premier SIPs 29

Hourly Assemblies Premier SIPs has multiple hourly rated fire assemblies  UL P517  UL P822  UL P839  UL U524  Type L Wall Panel - E119 assembly tested by Omega Point Labs 30
