Business Technology Mr. Bernstein Cash Registers Most retailers have POS systems which track cash and inventory Keep the “till” more than an arm’s reach from customers Keep the till perfectly organized at all times Close the drawer after each transaction Follow proper change-making techniques every time Refuse to be rushed Count bills – they can stick together Have a policy for removing excess cash from till There is no margin for error in handling cash

Business Technology Mr. Bernstein Making Change Announce the amount of the sales clearly to the client Take the customer’s money and announce the amount tendered Place the cash tendered on the register plate – do not place in till yet Remove necessary change from the till Repeat the sale amount to the customer Count change back to the customer Wait for the customer to acknowledge agreement before placing the tendered cash into the till Always follow this process exactly and with no exceptions
