Counting to 100
Thanks to “Sesame Street,” you probably already know how to count to 10. Uno Dos Tres Cuatro Cinco Seis Siete Ocho Nueve Diez
Here’s how you count to 100 by 10s, starting with 10: Diez Veinte Treinta Cuarenta Cincuenta Sesenta Setenta Ochenta Noventa Cien (Ciento)
Numbers 11-15 are each a single word you have to memorize: once doce trece catorce quince
After “quince” (15), however, you put numbers together like this: 16 = ten and six = y seis 17 = ten and seven = y siete 18 = ten and eight = y ocho 19 = ten and nine = y nueve 20 = veinte 21 = twenty and one = y uno 22 = twenty and two = y dos … 31 = thirty and one = y uno 32 = thirty and two = y dos 41 = forty and one = y uno 42 = forty and two = y dos diez veinte diez veinte diez diez treinta treinta cuarenta cuarenta
And so on and so on. That’s it! Until you get to 100, that is. But after 100 . . . that’s another lesson. Click here to go to your homework exercise.
