Science. Planner. 3/15/17 WALT: Science Planner 3/15/17 WALT: understand how weathering breaks down or changes rock? WU: A rock sample is a cube and measures 3 cm on each side. What is the surface area of the rock? CW: Weathering Vocab. Examples

Vocabulary: Weathering – processes that change objects on Earth’s surface over time. Mechanical weathering - When physical processes naturally break rocks into smaller pieces. Chemical weathering – changes the materials that are part of a rock into new materials. Oxidation – combines the element oxygen with other elements or molecules. Oxygen + Iron = Fe2O3 (Rust)
