Presentation transcript:

Systems—Organs that work together to do a job Function—job; what it does

Skeletal System Gives structure Protects organs Locomotion (move)

Muscular System Integumentary System Locomotion (move) Encloses the body and keeps contained.

Respiratory System Exchange gases (oxygen in, carbon dioxide out)

Cellular Respiration Every CELL uses oxygen to release energy from nutrients. All cells in all animals do respiration.

Digestive System Breaks down food into nutrients Absorbs nutrients into blood stream.

Circulatory System Carries blood to the body Brings nutrients & oxygen to cells Carries away wastes & carbon dioxide

Nervous System Senses stimuli in the environment Reacts to stimuli

Reproductive System Produce more of one’s kind—continue population.

Excretory System Gets rid of wastes. Immune System Fights off diseases.

Endocrine System Chemical control of body with chemicals called HORMONES.

Dynamic Equilibrium Systems constantly change and adjust keep the body healthy and balanced.
