5. Life Functions
Every living organism needs to perform certain functions to stay alive.
Each body system is responsible for completing one or more life function.
Which life function does each system do?

6. Circulatory System TRANSPORTATION!
Whenever something needs to go somewhere in the body the blood will take it there.
Blood delivers nutrients and also carries waste away from the cells.

7. Digestive System NUTRITION!
This system ingests food and digests it so the nutrients can be absorbed into the blood and delivered to the cells.

8. Respiratory System RESPIRATION!
NOT BREATHING! Making energy from nutrients
Oxygen + glucose  ENERGY + carbon dioxide+ water
O2 + C6H12O6  ATP + CO2 + H2O

9. Urinary System EXCRETION!
The body must get rid of waste or it will become toxic
Other systems that eliminate waste are respiratory, digestive system and skin.

REGULATION!
Someone needs to control and coordinate all the activities in the body.
Nerves send messages via neurons (fast)
Hormones are chemical messengers (slower)
