How do I organize my writing?

Why is organizing important? It helps you get your ideas down, so you don’t forget them. It helps you put your ideas in order, so they make sense. Students who organize their writing ALWAYS do better than those who don’t.

Which types of writing should I organize? Narrative writing (story) Opinion writing Informational writing

Narrative Writing: How do I organize it? Title of Story Setting Characters Problem How do the characters solve the problem? Solution Beginning Middle End This looks great, but I can’t write this on my own paper. This is simple enough to write on my paper quickly.

Narrative Practice Annie and her family went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner on Saturday night. When dinner was over, she was excited to get her fortune cookie. When she opened it, it contained the following message: "Your life is in danger. Say nothing to anyone. You must leave the city immediately and never return. Repeat: say nothing." Annie was frightened, and she didn’t know what to do. Writing Prompt: What happened next? Describe what Annie does about the message in her fortune cookie. Make sure to use dialogue in your story.

Informational Writing: How do I organize it? Hook: 3 points: Fact 1: - Evidence: Fact 2: Fact 3: Evidence: Conclusion: This looks great, but I can’t write this on my own paper. This is simple enough to write on my paper quickly.

Informational Practice Did you know that kids can make a very important difference in saving the earth’s water? They can! But first off, why do we even need to save water? Water is a natural resource that we get from the Earth. Without it, we would not be able to live! Imagine a world with no water at all. You wouldn't be able to drink it, bathe, or swim! Without clean water, plants, animals, birds and ocean life would also be unable to live. Kids can help protect this resource. You make a huge difference simply by starting at home. To get an idea of how much water we could save if we all made a small effort, think about this. What if every person across the nation turned off the water while brushing their teeth in the morning? Together they could save enough water to fill a lake as large as a mile wide and long and four feet in depth! Start doing your part to change our world! Writing Prompt: After reading the passage above, why do you think it’s important to help save the water on our earth? Support your answer using evidence from the passage.
