OVERVIEW OF THE PROPOSAL Eliminate low ridership routes and services Increase fixed route fares in Norwalk Increase door-to-door fares in Norwalk Enhance Norwalk Commuter Shuttles to / from the South Norwalk Railroad Station

WHEN WILL THE CHANGES GO INTO EFFECT? On or after January 1, 2018

WHY ALL THE CHANGES? There is a potential for The State of Connecticut to reduce funding to public transit, including Norwalk Transit District’s fixed route services.

WHY ALL THE CHANGES? To serve as a responsible steward of tax- payer money and offer public transit services within a balanced operational budget.

FINANCIAL IMPACT Service reductions reduce the cost of driver labor, mechanic labor, employee benefits, fuel, materials, supplies, and tires.

FINANCIAL IMPACT $330K less in annual spending through reductions $165K savings will be realized this fiscal year if changes are in place by Jan 1. $215K in added annual spending through enhancements

What WOULD Change About the CITY BUS Fare? Fare increase of $0.25 per single ride Effective 01-01-2018

What WOULD REMAIN THE SAME? Those 65 years or older, persons with a disability, or persons with a Medicare card are eligible for reduced fare.

90 min ride - Senior/Disabled $0.85 $1.00 (+.15) Cash Fare Current Proposed 90 min ride - Full Fare $1.75 $2.00 (+.25) 90 min ride - Senior/Disabled $0.85 $1.00 (+.15)

What WOULD Change About DOOR to DOOR Fares? Fare increases in Jan 2018 (already approved) and Jan 2019 Elimination of discount on ten-ride passes effective Jan 2019 NORWALK ADA and EFFECTIVE DOOR-TO-DOOR JAN 1, 2018 CURRENT APPROVED DIFFERENCE Single Ride $3.50 +$0.00 Book of 10 $31.50 $35.00 +$0.50 NORWALK ADA and EFFECTIVE DOOR-TO-DOOR JAN 1, 2019 APPROVED PROPOSED DIFFERENCE Single Ride $3.50 $4.00 +$0.50 Book of 10 $35.00 $40.00 +$5.00

When will the Fare Change Go into EFFECT? As of Jan 1, 2018 all books of 10 passes will discounted one ride. Recommend purchasing current passes on as-needed basis. Passes will be non-refundable.

SERVICE CHANGES

COASTAL Link (Regional Service) Change of service from 20 minute headways to 30 minute headways continuously all day Schedules available for public review on the Norwalk Transit Website www.norwalktransit.com

WEEKDAY SERVICE

Route 9 – Reduction of service MORNING SCHEDULE AFTERNOON SCHEDULE Reduce headways from 20 minute service to 40 minute service

Route 12 Modifications Removal of Highland Ave (south of Roton Middle School) / Wilson Ave / Rowayton Av / McKinley Ave Bus will travel Highland Avenue from Soundview Ave to Roton Middle School, turn around, and proceed back up Highland Ave to Soundview Ave ADA services may be affected – please check with the District for specifics

7 LINK – Reduction of service Jointly operated by NTD and HARTransit Proposal to suspend all NTD- operated trips ADA services may be affected – please check with the District for specifics

Added circulator service *** NEW – PHASE 1 *** Service every 15 minutes between West Avenue / North Main St / North Water St / Washington St / SNRR during commuting hours (6:00am – 9:30 am & 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm) Monday to Friday service

SATURDAY SERVICE

Route 11 Modifications Removal of Gregory Boulevard to Ludlow Monument (5th Street and Gregory Boulevard) Bus will exit off Van Zant Street and continue around East Norwalk Cemetery to East Avenue ADA services may be affected – please check with the District for specifics

SUNDAY SERVICE *no changes
