The Fall of Man The Way of the Day

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. The Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

A reading from the book of Genesis The Lord God took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden to cultivate and take care of it. Then the Lord God gave the man this warning, 'You may eat indeed of all the trees in the garden. Nevertheless of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat, for on the day you eat of it you shall most surely die.’ - Genesis 2:15-17

Last week we learned that God created the world and created it good Last week we learned that God created the world and created it good. God created men and women and created us very good; we are all made in God’s image and likeness. Humanity had a perfect relationship with God, each other, and with creation.

God gave Adam and Eve free will so they could choose Him without being forced to love God. Without free will, love cannot exist. God makes a single rule for Adam and Eve to obey which we just heard in our reading from Genesis.

For example, traffic rules are important because they keep us safe. Adam and Eve can obey the rule and live in a relationship with God, but they can also freely choose to disobey the rule and break their relationship with God. Pause for a moment and think about some of the rules we have in our lives and why they are important. For example, traffic rules are important because they keep us safe.

Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come Let’s pray together to our Father in heaven as we begin to explore this weeks Way of the Day: Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. Amen. St John Paul the second, pray for us

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. The Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
