Science Fair Title Name Period Teacher

Abstract No more than 250 word summary of the project and should include: the research question, hypothesis, procedures (not in a list), data collected and the conclusion. This should be in paragraph for.*DO NOT COMPLETE THIS PART UNTIL THE END OF THE PROJECT

Introduction/Background Research 5-7 sentence paragraph from page 17 of your science fair packet

Research Question/Problem The research question should be in question form, clearly stated and testable

Hypothesis The hypothesis should be a statement that is related to the research question, and should be an If/then/because statement.

Variables Independent Variable (Manipulated): (The variable you purposely changed) Dependent Variable (Measured): (The variable that is being observed, which changes in response to the independent variable)

Control Group Control: (This is the original experiment that you will compare the rest of your testing to)

Constants Constants: (The parts of the experiment that are not changed. You need up to 5 constants in your experiment.)

Materials The materials should be listed out, very specific, and aligned with the procedures. They need to be in bullet form and they need to be the metric system!

Procedures Procedures should be listed step-by-step. You should be able to visualize the experiment as you read the procedures. These should be very detailed and specific. They need to be numbered and use the metric system as well.

Graph and Data Table You should have a clearly labeled graph and data table for this section. (Cut and paste your chart and graph here from Excel or any other graphing program that you may have used)

Data Analysis This should be where you talk about what you found in your data that was collected. This section does not explain WHY the data came out the way that it did, instead, it just mentions trends, outliers, averages etc

Conclusion This conclusion should be in paragraph form and at least 5-7 sentences long. It should restate the if, then, because statement and discuss whether the hypothesis was supported or not, the data, and what the students learned from doing the experiment.

Future Research The Future Research should be in paragraph form and should include experimental errors that may have affected your results and how they will be corrected. If this experiment were to be done again, how would it be changed or expanded upon.

References Your references should include 4 sources that support your research. These could include websites, books, magazines etc. Must be in MLA format 1. 2. 3. 4.
