Introduction/Background Research
This paragraph should include 6 to 8 sentences. It needs to have an attention grabber to get the reader interested in your experiment. Include background research information with scientific details. It should conclude with the Problem or question that the lab is answering (What you are trying to find out?) (Why?) (How will this project benefit society?).

Research Question The research question should be in question form, clearly stated and testable

Hypothesis The hypothesis should be a statement that is related to the research question, and should be an If/then/because statement.

Variables Independent Variable (Manipulated): (The variable you purposely changed) Dependent Variable (Responding): (The variable that is being observed, which changes in response to the independent variable)

Control Control: (This is the original experiment that you will compare the rest of your testing to)

Constants Constants: (The parts of the experiment that are not changed)

Materials The materials should be listed out, very specific, and aligned with the procedures.

Procedures Procedures should be listed step-by-step. You should be able to visualize the experiment as you read the procedures

Graph You should have a clearly labeled graph and data table for this section. (Cut and paste your chart and graph here from Excel)

Data Table Place a table with collected data from experiment. This data table can be cut and pasted from your Microsoft Excel Graph.

Data Analysis This should be where you talk about what you found in your data that was collected.

Conclusion This conclusion should be in paragraph form and at least 10 sentences long. It should discuss whether the hypothesis was supported or not, the data, and what the students learned from doing the experiment.

References Your references should include 2 to 6 sources that support your research. These could include websites, books, magazines etc. 1. 2. 3. 4.

Future Research The Future Research should be in paragraph form and should include experimental errors that may have affected your results and how they will be corrected. If this experiment were to be done again, how would it be changed or expanded upon.

Abstract A one page summary of the project and should include: the research question, hypothesis, procedures (not in a list), data collected and the conclusion. This should be in paragraph for.*DO NOT COMPLETE THIS PART UNTIL THE END OF THE PROJECT Research question and Hypothesis: Procedures: Data collected: Conclusion:
