Stage 10 Culture Presentation

Project Description Research the education system of another country (You cannot choose Germany, India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or the UK) Present the basic outline of the education system (How many grades does it have?; Does everyone have to go to school? How is it compared to the rest of the world?) Compare the system of your country with that of ancient Rome. You will present this to a group (who will also grade you). Use the handout to guide your research

Education System - Germany Starts in Kindergarten Primary School (Hauptschule) 6th grade Realschule – 7th -10th = applied skills with apprenticeship 11th grade = apprenticeship OR Gesamtschule (prep for Gymnasium) Gymnasium = Grade 12-13 – associates degree = going on to college

Education System - India 1.2 Billion people = 200,000,000 students 74% literacy rate School was only made mandatory in 2010 80% Public 20% private Only 43% graduate with a high school diploma 40-60 per classroom Only 7% go on to higher education (university)

Teach each other Pick one country to research its education system You will have 3 minutes to present your education system and at least one comparison or contrast to Roman education system You will be graded by your peers in your groups of 4 This is due Friday, March 1st Follow the rubric for grading
