Simplifying Square roots

Simplifying Square roots Square roots that are not a perfect square root can be simplified using prime factorization Break the number down into products of prime Circle pairs of the same number ( these become whole numbers) Multiply the whole numbers together ( this is the number outside the square root) Multiply all the numbers not circled in your list of primes ( this is the number that goes inside the square root)

You Try

Rationalizing the denominator We cannot have a square root left in the denominator Multiply the top and bottom by the square root in the denominator This takes away the square root in the denominator Multiply the numerator and put the number under the square root See if you can simplify the square root After simplifying the square root see if you can reduce the fraction
