Blessed Assurance Jesus is mine!

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:14-16 NIV

“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. What it means to have Blessed Assurance Complete confidence in your relationship with God Confidence that God loves you – 1 John 3:1 Confidence that God is on your side – Romans 8:31-32

What it means to have Blessed Assurance No fear of Judgment Assurance that ALL your sins have been forgiven – Psalm 32:1-2; 103:1-5, 12; Romans 8:1-4 Having NO fear of dying – Hebrews 2:14-15; 1 John 4:13-18; Philippians 1:21-23

What it means to have Blessed Assurance Freedom to enjoy life without always worrying Confidence that God will take care of you – Matthew 6:25-34 Freedom to just be yourself, to be happy and to enjoy life to the full! – John 10:10; 1 Timothy 6:17

Why so many lack Blessed Assurance Some base their assurance on feelings They just don’t feel worthy They don’t feel God’s presence

Why so many lack Blessed Assurance Some base their assurance on knowledge They think that they have to understand everything They think that it’s impossible to really know for sure that you’re saved – 1 John 5:13

Why so many lack Blessed Assurance Some base their assurance on performance They never think they do enough They think that they’re just not trying hard enough

What Blessed Assurance is based on It’s based on God’s grace! Grace is the undeserved, unmerited favor of God God’s grace is a free gift! – Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:23-24

What Blessed Assurance is based on It’s based on the love of God God’s love is unconditional – John 3:16; Romans 5:6-10 God loves us more than we’ll ever know – Ephesians 3:14-21

What Blessed Assurance is based on It’s based on the perfect sacrifice of Jesus God made him who knew no sin to become sin for us 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 9:14 There is nothing you or any other human being can do that will add anything to the completed work of atonement by the sacrifice of Jesus! – Hebrews 10:11-14

What Blessed Assurance is based on It’s based on God’s faithful promises His promises to save us, help us, provide for us, protect us, give us eternal life . . . God always keeps His promises! – Hebrews 10:23; Joshua 23:14

How to enjoy more Blessed Assurance Put your complete trust in Jesus – John 14:1 Trust that He is who He claimed to be – John 8:24; 14:6 Trust His commands and obey them! – Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:36-41; Proverbs 3:5-6

How to enjoy more Blessed Assurance Focus on relationship not religion – Philippians 3:1-14 Strive to love the Lord with all your heart – Matthew 22:36-38 If you do that, the rest will follow – Matthew 22:30-40; Romans 13:8-10

How to enjoy more Blessed Assurance Remember, spiritual growth is a lifelong process! There will be times of moral failure – Romans 3:10; 1John 1:8-9 There will be times of spiritual drought – Psalms In the end, if we don’t give up, we will be victorious – Romans 8:37-39; 2 Peter 3:17-18; Hebrews 10:35-39; Revelation 2:10
