Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492. He was a seaman and made many sea voyages.

The capital of America is Washington, D.C.

America has many symbols.

The flag is called “Stars and Stripes”.

There are 50 states in the USA.

There are 50 stars on the American flag. There are 13 stripes: one stripe for each of the first 13 colonies.

France gave the Statue to America as a symbol of friendship. The Statue of Liberty France gave the Statue to America as a symbol of friendship.

The eagle became the official national symbol. It has an olive branch (a symbol of peace) and arrows (a symbol of strength).

The hymn is called “The Star-Spangled Banner”
