Death- Elie recounts many deaths during their long journey through the snow in the harsh winter. Snow, in this case, was deadly.

Elie talks about the corpse he sees staring back at him in the mirror Elie talks about the corpse he sees staring back at him in the mirror. His spirit has “died” along with his father during the war. He will never be the same.
