Peter’s Story from Stribor’s forest M. Finocchio, F. Marcantonio, F. Paolini, F. Sborgia, M. Travaglini – 2^ F

Peter was a shy teenager, he didn’t have many friends and he was ready to do everything to be accepted by other people. He had had an unhappy childhood: his parents were separated, so he and his brother moved from house to house like a parcel. This situation had influenced their growth greatly.

One day while Peter was walking to school through the tall skyscrapers of New York, similar to a steel and glass canyon, he met some of his schoolmates and at once he thought that it was a good chance to get to know each other better

In the group was a girl he really liked, her name was Daphne. The girl always wore dark clothes and put on too much make- up to enhance her beautiful features, but behind that mask there was a weak girl who was afraid to show other people her true self.

The teenagers entered a subway, suddenly a man with a persuasive voice came up to them and offered them some tablets similar to candies. Some boys took the candies, others, refused. Peter took them to appear outgoing.

After swallowing the pills, he felt better, but he didn’t know it was drug. When Peter returned home, his mother noticed his look was different. She was really worried about his son, then she warned him about the dangers of meeting bad people who could harm him.

That night Peter’s mind was groggy with drugs and when he fell asleep he dreamt Daphne’s face that continuously changed like an endless nightmare. He trembled with fear, covered in sweat and unsettled because of the effects of the pills he had swallowed. All at once he fell out of bed and a loud shout broke the still of the night.

Later the wail of the sirens was heard, an ambulance was taking Peter to hospital. The most difficult proof was waiting for him: surviving.
