Understanding of Health and Safety

Legal and organisational requirements for data recording (Data protection act) This act helps to stop people from being able to steal data from other because the data protection act is about keeping all data and information in a stored place so that data is protected at all times. When you are using a computer you need to make sure that all data is protected by keeping it stored in a safe place so that if others try to gain access to your data they won’t be able to have access to your data because it is in a stored place that only you can access. With the data protection it can also been used to keep information safe when you opt-in information to others by giving others the option to receive the information that you are giving them. Opt out with the act gives you the option to be able to avoid receiving any information given to you that you do not want to see or receive at all.

Incident reporting processes When reporting an incident you need to make sure what the incident is that you are recording such as a specified injuries of a worker within a company. To do this you need to report this to an employer or someone who has control of the premises. Fromm here they will record the incident by putting it in a record book of all incidents then from here the work that is injured will receive medical attention and then taken time of work. From here they need to note down how long they will be of for to recover and when they should be back to be able to work again.

Health and safety procedures summary for WCC These policies for 3.8.5 are about the records and the reports of the RIDDOR in the college where they record and report all incidents and dangers within the college so that they keep the college safe for staff and students. The polices for 5.1 are about the fire management and evacuation within the college where they say what they do to ensure the that people within the college know what they are doing and are safe. This policy 3.4.3 is about the requirements within the college such as risk assessments or reports which need to be maintained at all time which will affect students because it will give them instructions on what to do and not to do. The policy 5.3 is about accident reporting where they have to report any incidents that happen within the college and investigate what has happened. This affects the college because it keeps all incidents that happens in the college under control so that no one can harmed even further.

Health and safety procedures summary for WCC The policy part 3.4.7 and 3.4.8 are about health and safety with equipment such as protective clothing and tools such as machinery etc. These are mainly about providing guidance of what equipment and protection is needed for the college for what needs to be used in each department. They affect us because it gives us rules of what we need and how we should use them. The policy 5.2 is about first aid which gives shows you who are the first aiders wand what they have to do within the college and how to contact them. This affect us because The policy 5.2.1 is about the health and safety team about what they do within the college and what they need to do in the college. This affects us because it gives us a team that we can rely on if an incidents where to happen. The policy 3.5.7 is about maintaining the college building by preventing risks to health and safety and keeping it reasonably practicable so if keeps the building looks fresh as safe for all students. This affects us because it gives us a guide of what the college what to be at all time each week.

Health and safety procedures summary for WCC The policy 5.5 and 5.5.1 and 5.5.2 is about the security of premises within the college where is points just what needs to b done within each facility with the procedures that have to always be done and as well making sure that line mangers do there job to make sure that the college is fully secured with things locked and away where they needs to be. This affects us because it gives us a guide of what get done around the college and how it is kept clear for us to use and put back so the college is fully secured. The policy 5.9.1 is about portable electrical apparatus within the college where they need to be tested all the time to make sure they are safe to use in the college. This affects us because it reminds us that only certain things that are brought in need to be pat tested to be used in the college.
