PORTABLE POWER TOOLS and EQUIPMENT

PPE Safety Glasses or Face Shield Heavy Leather Gloves Appropriate Footwear Appropriate clothing

RISKS Eye injuries Entanglement Cuts and abrasions Hand injuries Projectiles Electrocution

BEFORE STARTING Portable electric tools are dangerous to use around fuel vapors and other flammable gases unless they are specially designed for this purpose

BEFORE STARTING Check guard operation and condition Use only for the specific task machine is made to do Check electric cords and plugs for damage

BEFORE STARTING Work area and footwear must dry Be sure switch is off before plugging it in Check for dull, broken or damaged bits or tooling

TO SAFELY USE Wear proper PPE Always use two hands. Clamp work to bench or vise Keep guards in place Focus on the task

TO SAFELY USE Never remove the 3rd prong on the electrical plug Never carry a tool by the cord or pull the cord to unplug it from receptacles Keep floor and work area clean

TO SAFELY USE Unplug tools before replacing bits or blades Take a balanced stance Do not over reach Always be aware of the position of the electrical cord

WHEN FINISHED Loosely wrap cord around tool and return to proper storage location Clean up cuttings with a bench brush and broom
