DNA fingerprinting

What is DNA fingerprinting? DNA fingerprinting is a laboratory technique used to link biological evidence and a suspect in a criminal investigation. A DNA sample taken from a crime scene is compared with a DNA sample from a suspect. If the two DNA are a match, then the evidence came from that suspect.

The test is used to determine whether a family relationship exists between two people, to identify organisms causing a disease, and to solve crimes. Only a small sample of cells is needed for DNA fingerprinting. A drop of blood or the root of a hair contains enough DNA for testing. FOR WHAT?

How is it used? They can compare the DNA in samples found at a crime scene with DNA from possible victims and suspects. By comparing DNA’S, they can link victims to crime scenes. FBI and police labs around the us have begun to use DNA fingerprints to link suspects to evidence- blood or semen stains, hair or items of clothing found at the scenes of a crime. Since 1987 more than 150 cases have been closed with the use of DNA fingerprinting evidence.

Pros of DNA fingerprinting:

CONS OF DNA fingerprinting:

the accuracy of DNA fingerprinting testing is dependent on experience and lab equipment.

DNA can degrade over time which would result in inaccurate information

inaccurate DNA results could convict an innocent person of a crime.

I think they should definitely use DNA fingerprinting I think they should definitely use DNA fingerprinting. It can help us get closer to the clues faster. They are able to get so much information from it. It is very useful for our society needs. It breaks everything in simple terms.
