Set Up Long Division The Problem: What you are dividing by goes on the outside What you are dividing into goes on the inside

terms and bring down the -30. Repeat the process What times x is 10x? Subtract like terms and bring down the -30. Repeat the process What times x is 10x?

10x – 30 10(x – 3) = There is no remainder x – 3 and subtract Multiply 10 with x – 3 and subtract 10x – 30 10(x – 3) = There is no remainder

This means that:

This time there is a remainder A New Problem: This time there is a remainder

The remainder goes over the divisor, x – 2.
