Introducing MagicInfo Premium I 4.1

The MagicInfo Concept What is Samsung MagicInfo? Samsung MagicInfo is a family of turnkey digital signage solutions for Samsung SMART Signage LFDs, designed to provide high quality digital signage simply, and at a lower cost. It is designed to allow a user to build a digital signage system as easily as possible, and manage it over a network, wired or wireless, from a PC with installed MagicInfo Server software. MagicInfo consists of two parts: The MagicInfo player software installed onto the Samsung SBB (set back box) media player for each display. MagicInfo Server software to be installed on a networked Windows PC, supplied by the user. LFD with MagicInfo User PC with MagicInfo Server Media Files via IP Network

The Benefits of MagicInfo MagicInfo offers cost effective digital signage as a turnkey solution from a single manufacturer. It removes the need to integrate a stand-alone media player into the display system. It eliminates dealing with multiple sources and/or signal distribution. MagicInfo provides easy content scheduling, detailed hardware management, and full remote control. MagicInfo features simple configuration and easy to use interfaces. Introducing MagicInfo Premium I 4.1

Introducing MagicInfo Premium I 4.1 MagicInfo Premium I 4.1 is the most powerful development in Samsung’s digital signage software family Building on the foundations of successful previous versions of MagicInfo software, Premium I 4.1 is designed from the ground up to deliver a true enterprise class solution that can meet the demands of any digital signage application. MagicInfo 4.1 is intended to perform competitively to other mainstream digital signage software packages, with the benefit of simpler integration supported by a single manufacturer. It offers a complete set of tools, including playback reporting, dynamic database integration, and camera based content triggering. MagicInfo Premium I 4.1 can scale to any size of network, spanning as many sites as desired.

The MagicInfo Premium I Process The user creates content, by taking standard computer content files and uploading them to the MagicInfo Server, or building them into a dynamic multi-zone layout using the MagicInfo Premium Author. The user then can utilize the browser-based interface provided by the server to manage the uploaded content, and assign it to various schedules. Schedules are then assigned to MagicInfo Premium I displays, and the server publishes them over the network, or via the Internet, to the SBB’s local hard drive. Content is stored there for playback. The MagicInfo Premium I Player software then begins playback of the scheduled content.

The MagicInfo Server The MagicInfo Server is a browser-based software system that manages and controls content and devices, allowing the user to organize and publish content. The MagicInfo Server is on-premise software (self hosted) using a Windows based PC. The user accesses this software from a standard web browser, connecting to the server PC over the network, or the Internet. Because the system is designed to be web based, a user can connect to the server and interact with it remotely. MagicInfo Server supports multiple LFDs across multiple sites, with multiple users, and does so simultaneously.

The MagicInfo Premium Author The user can control the standard functions of MagicInfo from the Server’s web interface, and Web Author. The MagicInfo Premium Author is a powerful Windows-based application that goes beyond those functions, providing the ability to create more advanced, complex, and dynamic layouts. The MagicInfo Premium Author can be installed by any number of users, locally on their PCs.

The MagicInfo Premium I Player The MagicInfo Premium I Player is the client application that communicates with the server over the network, or the Internet, and play back published content assigned by the server. The MagicInfo Premium I Player is installed on the Samsung LFD’s attached media player, an SBB (Set Back Box) accessory PC module.

The MagicInfo Premium I Network The MagicInfo Premium I system is designed to be operated over a network, using standard TCP/IP communications. One or more MagicInfo Premium I displays are connected to the network, along with a user supplied PC, that has the MagicInfo Server installed. This software is a web server utility, containing all necessary components, and provides the user interface via web page to users connected to the network, from their own PCs using a web browser. Displays receive commands, content, and schedules from the server, over the network. All content and schedules are stored on the server PC. Multiple users can access the server at the same time. Multiple displays can be on the same network, and each is independent. MagicInfo LFD 2 MagicInfo LFD 1 MagicInfo LFD 3 LAN MagicInfo LFD 4 MagicInfo Server PC MagicInfo LFD 5

The MagicInfo Premium I Network MagicInfo Premium I also offers the ability to control multiple MagicInfo displays spanning multiple sites, from a single server, and tie them together into a single system. This requires the use of an Internet connection at each site, with the Internet connecting the MagicInfo Premium Server to all displays, to issue all control, scheduling, and content. Users at each site can connect to the server software user interface from the web browser of their local PCs. Site 1 Site 2 Internet Site 3 Manage Schedule MagicInfo Server Manage Content Control Displays

MagicInfo Premium I Content Samsung MagicInfo Premium I is designed to allow the user to show content from the networked MagicInfo Server PC on the display on their own, as well as using them in the creation of advanced templates using the Author software. MagicInfo Premium I allows the use of many types of content files: Photos and image files Music (audio) files Movie (video) files Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) files Adobe Flash and PDF files Live URLs and saved web pages in HTML MRSS / RSS feeds External video inputs Directly linked database sources (using optional DataLink add-on) IPTV streams

MagicInfo Premium I Content Additional codecs and readers may be required for certain video, audio, and office file types. These codecs and viewers are usually available for free online. These codecs and readers may be installed on the MagicInfo Premium I display as needed, in the same manner as they would be installed on a PC. Examples: To play an MOV based video file, the user would need to install the proper MOV codec on the display prior to use. To view an Adobe Acrobat PDF document, the user would need to download and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader. To view a Microsoft PowerPoint file, the user would need to download and install the PowerPoint Viewer.

MagicInfo Premium I USB Publishing There are some applications where a network to connect the Samsung LFD and a server PC is not possible. In those instances, the user can make use of the USB publishing feature of MagicInfo Premium I. A template is created in MagicInfo Premium I Author, and saved to the user’s PC. The Author tool comes with a scheduling utility, and a schedule can be created there, using both the templates from Author, and other media files, and published to a local USB drive. Plugging that USB drive into a MagicInfo Premium I display will cause the display to play back the content according to the schedule on the drive. Copy to display or play directly from USB Create content schedule Save schedule to USB Design screen template

MagicInfo Premium I Media Players – Accessory PC Modules Samsung commercial LCD displays feature a modular PC system, as accessories. A PC module can be easily added to almost any model in the Samsung commercial LFD product lineup, enabling MagicInfo Premium I compatibility. These modules will be set back boxes (SBB) units, mounted to the rear of the LFD, and connected with a proprietary DisplayPort to DVI cable (included), and power.

MagicInfo Premium I Licensing When a user installs the MagicInfo Server software, and launches the web page for the first time, it will prompt them to enter a license key. There is an option for trial licenses. When the user fills out the activation form presented on screen, the trial licenses will be activated over the Internet. The system provides for a 5 display 60 day free trial. When the user is ready to purchase MagicInfo Premium I, the part BW-MIP30PW can be purchased from a Samsung reseller. This will allow for one additional monitor to be added to the server per license purchased. The user can purchase as many licenses they need to meet the number of monitors. For example, if the user has 11 monitors, so they would purchase 11 BW-MIP30PW software licenses. The license key is entered into the server under the System tab.
